Warm air from an AC is most often a wrong mode setting, clogged indoor filters, or an outdoor unit that has lost power or stopped.

An indoor AC unit that drips is usually dealing with condensate that can't drain away: a clogged drain line, a coil that froze because the filters are dirty, or a unit or drain hose that isn't sloped correctly.

A clogged filter, a garbage disposer that needs clearing (or a new one with its knockout plug still in), a blocked air gap or a kinked drain hose cause most drain problems.

Checked against manufacturer sources
HomeFixCodes covers 533 error codes for washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators and air conditioners from 19 brands sold in the US. Each code is researched from the manufacturer's own support pages and manuals or established repair references, then checked again by a second reviewer, and every page lists its sources. Read our editorial policy.
What an error code tells you
Modern appliances test themselves constantly. When a sensor reads something outside its normal range, such as water that doesn't drain in time or a door that doesn't lock, the control board stops the cycle and shows a short code. The code names the symptom the appliance detected, not always the broken part, which is why the same code can have several causes. Working through the checks in order is the fastest way to find yours.
